Dennis Scholl Talk on his book "Tales of the Towpath"
Event is at Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse, 4216 Country Side Lane, Hellertown PA 18015
Dennis Scholl, author of the children's book Tales of the Towpath, will speak at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse about the inspirations for his book. His book is currently taught to fourth- and fifth-grade students in public, private, parochial and charter schools in Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Carbon and Luzerne counties.
The book follows the life of a young Irish boy - Finn Gorman - whose father takes his family to America in 1846 and eventually becomes a canal boat captain. Fin attends the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse. His adventures lead readers on a journey into the Delaware and Lehigh Canal’s past, when anthracite coal was fueling unbridled industrial and economic growth.
