10,000 Maniacs, Angelique Kidjo Coming to Musikfest Café

Royal Southern Brotherhood also among newly announced shows going on sale this week.

10,000 Maniacs, Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo and the Royal Southern Brotherhood featuring Cyril Neville & Devon Allman are among the new acts announced for the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café.

Tickets for the shows will go on sale at 10 a.m., Tuesday to ArtsQuest Members, and 10 a.m., Friday to the public. They’ll be available at www.artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.

Formed in 1981, 10,000 Maniacs are known for hits such as “More Than This,” “These Are Days,"” “Hey Jack Kerouac,” “What's The Matter Here” and “Candy Everybody Wants.” The group first gained widespread recognition with 1987’s “In My Tribe,” which charted at No. 37, while its 1992 album, “Our Time in Eden,” sold more than three million copies.  The band will perform Feb. 1, 7:30 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo will visit the Musikfest Café on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Born in Benin, Kidjo got her start in the jazz/rock fusion band Jasper van’t Hof’s Pili Pili  and went on to become one of the most popular performers in Paris.  Her 1991 release, Logozo, hit No. 1 on the Billboard world music charts, and in 2008 she earned a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album for her recording Djin Djin. Over the years, Kidjo has performed and recorded with some of music’s biggest names, including Dave Matthews, Josh Groban, Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Peter Gabriel and Branford Marsalis.

Latin Dance Night: Hector Rosado y su Orquestra - Nov. 15, 10 p.m. Tickets: $10

10,000 Maniacs - Feb. 1, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $39 and $49

The Amish Outlaws - Feb. 14, 8:30 p.m. Tickets: $7 and $10 in advance; $10 and $13 at the door

Angelique Kidjo - Feb. 19, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $40 and $50

The Royal Southern Brotherhood featuring Cyril Neville & Devon Allman – March 8, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20 and $25
