Peeps Drop Rings in Bethlehem's New Year

Drop of giant candy Peep marks the beginning of 2014 at SteelStacks

Hundreds gathered at the Levitt Pavilion lawn to watch the Peeps chick drop—an annual New Year's Eve tradition in Bethlehem.

The drop of the Peep—a 4½-foot tall, 85-pound, lit, fiberglass model of Just Born's marshmallow candy chick—was preceded by a countdown at 5:15 p.m., a nod to the early bedtime of most of the attendees of PeepFest at SteelStacks, which concluded this evening.
