Heat, Storms to Intensify as Week Progresses

It will be hot, hot and hotter as the first extended heat wave of 2013 blankets Bethlehem this week.

An extended heat wave is under way in the Bethlehem area and it will get worse before it gets better, according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service.

Expect the heat to intensify Tuesday through Thursday when the heat index could climb into the mid- to high 90s.

Every day this week brings a chance of thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe with strong, gusty winds and downpours. Stronger, more organized and widespread storms are expected later this week, the Weather Service says.
