"All You Need is Bugs"

Opening of “All You is Need is Bugs;” an Exhibit about Critters who  Swim, Fly, Walk, and Wiggle in our World.

The bugs are buzzin’ at Gertrude B. Fox Environmental Center, 100 Illick’s Mill Road in Bethlehem! Learn about bugs you’ve seen all summer and will see throughout the fall:

  • Discover why pollinators are key to our survival;
  • See preserved insects from around the world;
  • Study water from Monocacy Creek to find bug species indicating good water quality;
  • Learn how to safely control pests that invade your home!
  • Play a Game of Bug Bingo;
  • Try your hand in the  “Make Your Own Bug” challenge.
  • Watch our feature presentation film, Big Bugs.
  • Make a butterfly note keeper, a cute caterpillar, or an ant made from spoons at Kit’s Corner Nature Arts and Crafts Area..
  • AND, make delicious edible dirt with gummy worms and other insects!

Visit the Fox’s four native plant gardens and witness the act of pollination as hundreds of beneficial insects gather pollen from flowers in bloom this weekend: Meadow Phlox, a variety of native Sunflowers, Bee Balm, Purple Coneflower, Autumn Sedum, Coral Honeysuckle, Hoary Verbena, Jacob’s Ladder, Monkshood, and more. The Fox’s permanent displays will also be open. Three vivariums  with friendly reptiles and amphibians. “Rocks at the Fox,” mineral display.

When you’re at the Fox, you’ll always feel part of Mother Nature.

Hours: Thursday-Sunday, Noon-5 p.m.

Admission: Free

Event is mostly indoors, but some outside events too, weather permitting.
