The City thinks your tractor's sexy!

Welcome to Bethlehem, a chicken in every pot, a road tractor in every driveway.

Evidently, the City of Bethlehem's Planning Bureau Director thinks your road tractor is sexy. According to the new Zoning Ordinance, if it gets passed by City Council "as is," you will be able to park your 13,000 lb road tractor in your driveway, and your neighbor can also have a road tractor parked in their driveway.

The existing Zoning Ordinance only allows you to park a passenger vehicle, or two, or three, or more in your driveway, and, even one commercial vehicle, if it weighs less than two (2) tons, and no commercial vehicles that are over two (2) tons. That is why you do not see any commercial vehicles parked in residentially zoned districts within the City of Bethlehem.

That has worked so well for so many years that it's obviously time to upset the apple cart.

The proposed Zoning Ordinance has a few kinks, and this one weighs in at 13,000 lbs. Is this another attempt to lower the quality of life standards in Bethlehem?

If you think this is a good idea, then just move onto the next blog. If you would like to voice your concern, you can send an email to Darlene Heller, at dheller@bethlehem-pa.gov, or give her a call at (610) 865-7088.
