Tuesday: A Great Lunch for a Good Cause

Souper Day at the Event Center at Blue benefits New Bethany Ministries.

Enjoy a delicious soup and salad lunch at noon in the Event Center at Blue, 4431 Easton Ave., Bethlehem Township, to benefit New Bethany Ministries.

New Bethany Ministries provides critical services to the area’s homeless, hungry, poor and mentally ill. Keynote speaker for the 22nd annual Souper Day is the Right Rev. C. Hopeton Clennon, newly appointed senior pastor of the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem.

  • An "Enough Already" Debt Limit/Government Shutdown Rally will be held at noon at the Federal Courthouse, 504 Hamilton St., Allentown. Volunteers with the Lehigh Valley chapter of Organizing for Action will call on U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey to help resolve the government shutdown and debt limit crisis.
  • The Bethlehem Area Public Library hosts Gentle Yoga for Adults at noon. Relax and cultivate a sense of well being with gentle exercises that focus on conscious breathing and healthy physical body alignment. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Led by Wendy Thomson, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, RYT Professional Counselor and Yoga Instructor.
  • Bethlehem City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall. Among the items on the agenda, an application for a $10 million PennVest loan to add a dewatering facility to the city’s sewage treatment plant.
  • Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. Fourth St., hosts its monthly free swing jam at 8 p.m. Western swing, big band Dixieland, and more. Bring sheet music. All instruments welcome.
