Thursday: 'Fluffy' Comedian Visits Sands Event Center

A choice of standup comedy shows at Sands and SteelStacks, while a zydeco band visits the Levitt Pavilion.

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, best known for his routine “I’m Not Fat … I’m Fluffy,” which also became the title of a Comedy Central special, visits the Sands Bethlehem Event Center at 8 p.m.

Iglesias has actually starred in three Comedy Central specials and has hosted his own show “Stand Up Revolution” for two seasons.

The Fluffy Guy, as he is known on the Web and on Twitter, is on a tour that is taking him across North America and as far away as India.

  • Farmersville Elementary School remains closed, while the school district continues to address a mold problem. The school will be closed through at least Friday. Families who have their children enrolled in Farmersville Elementary School Day Care may continue to bring them to Miller Heights Elementary School while Farmersville remains closed, but additional costs may apply.
  • The Bethlehem Farmers Market makes its weekly visit to Campus Square in South Bethlehem from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shop for produce from three local farms and grab some lunch, baked goods or other items from among the market’s 11 other vendors.
  • Governor Wolf, Hanover and William Penn elementary schools are all hosting open houses for parents beginning at 6 p.m.
  • Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole, a zydeco band, which draws influences from French, Spanish, Native American and African music, performs the free concert at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks at 7 p.m.
  • You actually have a choice in live standup comedy shows tonight. Christine Rich, who has also appeared on Comedy Central, The View and Lifetime Television, performs at the Banko in SteelStacks at 8 p.m. Rich has won the prestigious Ladies of Laughs competition at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Her keynote address, "Healing My Funny Bone,” takes audiences on a journey of how she persevered through physical and emotional pain to find life funny again. Tickets are $10, less for students, seniors and ArtsQuest members.
