Early in his career, Andrew Dice Clay was described as outrageous, misogynistic, hilarious, controversial, politically incorrect and foul-mouthed.
His retelling of his “adult nursery rhymes” at the 1989 Video Music Awards earned him a lifetime ban from MTV. Invited in 1990 to host Saturday Night Live, cast member Nora Dunn and invited musical guest Sinead O’Connor refused to appear on the same broadcast.
But after more than two decades the Dice Man is still performing and getting laughs—even receiving critical acclaim for his performance in the most recent Woody Allen comedy, “Blue Jasmine.” Perhaps that’s why he called his most recent Showtime special “Indestructible.”
Tonight at 8, the Dice Man brings his act to the Sands Bethlehem Event Center. Tickets are from $29.50 to $69.50.
Here’s what else is happening in Bethlehem today:
- Go to the Bethlehem Area Public Library at 6:30 p.m. to hear “The Best Bedtime Stories Ever” for the library’s regular Family Fun Night. Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal. All ages are welcome.
- City Council’s Public Safety Committee meets at 7 p.m. in Town Hall to discuss the current state of the city’s police, fire and ambulance services. The committee is expected to discuss overtime, staffing levels and equipment needs for 2014.
