The Weather: Maybe the best of the festival. Mostly sunny and a high of 81 degrees.

The Headliner: Alternative/hard rockers Avenged Sevenfold end the festival with a hard edge at 8 p.m. on the Sands Steel Stage. Tickets are $59 and $49.

The Highlight: The annual Musikfest Fireworks display signals that the 10-day party is drawing to a close. The pyrotechnics, shot off from Sand Island beginning at 9:45, are visible from numerous points around the North and South sides, especially Payrow Plaza near City Hall and the SteelStacks area.

Get You Some Church: The annual Musikfest Polka Mass will be celebrated where else but at Festplatz at 10 a.m. There will also be a “contemporary worship service” at Volksplatz and a “Christian Celebration” at Plaza Tropical, both also at 10.

For the Little Ones: Musikfest Memories is the craft theme at Banana Island. Uncle Rock plays family friendly music from noon to 2 at neighboring Plaza Tropical.

Take Home Some Souvenirs: The first-ever Musikfest Charity Auction will raise money for ArtsQuest programming at the Musikfest Café. Items include performer-autographed items, memorabilia, gift certificates and the Musikfest Grand Player Piano, which was autographed by 52 stars that performed at the festival between 1998 and 2002. There is a preview hour at 1 p.m. and the auction starts at 2. Tickets are $10 per person.

Go To a Wedding: Mayor John Callahan will officiate the nuptials of liver transplant survivor John Silva and Kathy Adolt at the Bridge, the 70-foot long steel and fire sculpture in the plaza in front of the ArtsQuest Center. We aren’t sure about the time.

The Best of the Free Platzes: Get a preview of Oktoberfest, which comes to SteelStacks starting on Oct. 4, with a day of traditional polka music at Festplatz with Walt Groller, Bud Hudenski & The Corsairs and the Alex Meixner Band. It’s also Godfrey Daniels Day at Liederplatz. Local favorites Dave Fry and Dina Hall share the stage at noon. The Best of Godfrey Daniels Open Mic, at 1:30, will star Not For Coltrane, which includes my old Festblog pal Michael Duck, who gets to live the dream of actually playing on a Musikfest stage. Our highest recommendation goes to Lucy Kaplansky, national folk star who you might know from supergroups Cry Cry Cry and the Red Horse Project. She follows the Open Mic show at 3:30. We also love Easton’s own Brittany Ann, who plays a Lyrikplatz (the Banko at the ArtsQuest Center) show at 7 p.m.
