Kenny G Brings 'Smooth Jazz' to Sands: Your Thursday

Also, holiday choral music at Godfrey's, Holiday Pops at Freedom and big band swing music at the Musikfest Cafe.

Some call it smooth jazz. Some call it adult contemporary. Whatever you call it, Kenny G has sold more than 50 million records and made a lot of money.

Tonight at 8, he’ll make some more at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center. Tickets are from $39.50 to $59.50.

  • Christkindlmarkt resumes for its fifth seasonal weekend at SteelStacks, featuring aisles of handmade works by the nation’s finest artisans; traditional and contemporary holiday music; and a variety of food from vendors offering bratwursts, strudel, German roasted almonds, barbeque and more. Today’s hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Walkup tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children.
  • The South Side Branch of the Bethlehem Area Public Library, 400 Webster St., hosts a holiday party at 6:30 p.m. Each child who attends will get to make two ornaments—one for the branch’s tree and one to take home. There will be holiday stories, music, refreshments and a special visitor all dressed in red. Admission is free, but a valid library card and registration is required.
  • The Touring Choir of the Lehigh Valley Charter School for the Arts performs a holiday concert at Godfrey Daniels at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.50 and $5.50 for students.
  • The Freedom High School Orchestra holds its Holiday Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
  • If you want to hear real jazz, we’d recommend visiting the Musikfest Café, where The Rob Stoneback Big Band, will play authentic swing music at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and $15.
  • The Christmas City Follies XIV, the Touchstone Theatre’s vaudevillian celebration of Christmas in Bethlehem, will be performed at 8 p.m. at the theater on 321 E. Fourth St. On Thursdays, Touchstone offers pay-what-you-will at the door, allowing patrons to name their own ticket price.
