More About City of Bethlehem
Bethlehem is a city of about 73,000 people that straddles the banks of the Lehigh River in eastern Pennsylvania. The city is governed by a mayor and a seven-member city council, which meets twice a month at Town Hall, a round auditorium located next to City Hall. The city also has a Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board, which makes decision on construction and development projects. The community was christened Bethlehem on Christmas Eve, 1741 by Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf, a patron of the Moravian settlers who built a two-room log cabin on the banks of the Monocacy Creek.
