Do not have cable. I will read the commentary from both sides. This way I am seeing it from both sides point of view. I must say however, that it would take a miracle for me to vote for a candidate that is "pro-choice". Many say, "You cannot vote on one issue!" But, what if that one issue tells you a TON about where the person is coming from fundamentally. How one views the value of life. How much one is willing to go against popular opinion to save a life. If your mother was having troubles when you were in her womb, would you want her thinking that you were just a blob...or that you have a heartbeat and that if she cannot take care of you, there are others that can. Personally, I think that unless our country makes killing the unborn illegal...we are doomed. Whether you believe in God or not, you know that to ask any child if he or she thinks it is ok for a mommy to "get rid of" the baby in her stomach...they would be horrified!! Oh, lets not mention that to them because it is more complicated than that. Yes, you are right,...the child has no idea the psychological damage that will occur to the mother and that she will most likely self-medicate the rest of her life. Also, if she is african american there are higher health risks. It is complicated....for the mother who "choices" the death of her child. The best way to strengthen American is with honor and moral fiber. Protect the unborn. Help orphans & widows. Rise up men. We need strong male leaders in the family. Rise up.

"How much one is willing to go against popular opinion to save a life" -- This is where you are wrong. Popular opinion is for abortions. Religious teachings should not be used to run our government. Abortions are the law, and any president's job is to uphold the law. You certainly have the right to not get an abortion, and because of your view, you should exercise that stance.

I am surprised though that in this day and age you would vote based on that one single issue. Particularly because the party who is supposedly "pro-life" ends that support at birth, if the parents are poor.

Those are your feelings and you are entitled to them. However, each person has their own unique perspective on this issue and is also entitled to their opinion. Therefore, government should stay out of these very personal choices. They must be left between a woman and her doctor. It is also extremely presumptious to say that women will "self medicate" for the rest of their lives because they had an abortion?! Plenty of women who make this choice feel it is the best decision for them and will recover both physicall and emotionally just fine. Your statement is a huge generalization. Overall, government has no place in a woman's body!

The abortion issue lost credibility the moment it moved from a one of teaching to one of demanding. Teaching about why abortion is not a good choice is not the same as demanding that abortion be accepted as a poor choice, and then criminalized with laws and force.
Discourse is compromised when legality demands what the people are not ready (or perhaps unable circumstantially) to accept. When people choose to not have a abortion, then we know that teaching has had an effect.
It is the avoidance of teaching that demands abortion be outlawed w force. Teaching takes more courage, insight and care than demanding laws be enforced. Gentle persuasion would have already had better effect - judgment, and most insufferable the presumption that we know what others carry everyday, when in reality we could not live 5 minutes of other's lives.

People will stop choosing an abortion if they have learned why it is a poor choice. Even then, it is w broken hearts that some seek an abortion.
They have lost their homes, their jobs, their dignity, or they already work three jobs just to feed the children already in their care. How dare anybody speak for them
esp. those living lives of ease and luxury, many at the expense of those they have underhandedly robbed, not just of their hard-earned money and their homes, but of their dignity and sense of self-worth.

We step aside when the poor walk by. We do not judge or make demands.
Start teaching, but stop demanding.

It always amazes me how Republicans, Tea Partiers and others on the right scream about smaller government and the need for less government intervention until it comes to a women's right to choose, marriage equality and other matters of personal choice.

When it's convenient to their cause those on the right promote government restriction and intervention to the highest degree. Honestly, have you ever met anyone who is actually pro-abortion? I never have. Pro-choice, yes, but never pro-abortion.

You know that to ask any child if he or she thinks it is ok for a mommy to "fund the killing of thousands upon thousands of men, women, and children so she doesn't have to pay $10 a gallon for her SUV" ...they would be horrified!! So, yeah, could vote for more war in the Middle East and keep pretending to be 'pro-life,' but it's pretty vague when life actually begins, and pretty clear when it ends. If you are truly interested in contemplating the issue, which seems optimistic given the tone of your post, here's a really great essay about it from a scientific and philosophical standpoint:

Obama should have the advantage in the foreign policy debate Mon. night. He's had all that experience orchestrating the cover-up of the Libya fiasco, he's traveled all around the world apologizing for our country's greatness and making friends with our enemies, he's angered and disappointed our allies, especially Israel, he told Putin that he'd make concessions to him after the election, and Hugo Chavez has endorsed him for Pres. So all that experience should benefit him in the debate, right?

louis kootsares - Let's start with your "apologizing" - You are promoting a completely false claim that has been fact checked over and over again.

As for your inclusion of the word "table clothed" in your description of terrorists, you have grouped all innocent and decent people who happen to wear the clothing that you choose to describe ignorantly as terrorists.

Clearly, you have learned nothing from history and how human beings have been dehumanized by putting them into groups and using negative language to describe ALL that they have identified for that select grouping.

"good statement" in the Morning Call - No, just one that validates ignorance of details and facts and makes you feel good about the repeating and promoting false information, that is more often than not posted with hateful vitriol.

The abortion issue is smoke and mirrors for both sides. The left plays this card when it wants to scare liberal and centrist voters away from a conservative candidate. The right uses it when it wants to solidify its conservative religious base against a liberal candidate, but the truth of the matter is NOTHING WILL CHANGE WHEN IT COMES TO ABORTION EITHER WAY. In this case, the left is making Romney out to be some anti-woman boogie man because their candidate has ZERO to run on. GW Bush was far more conservative than Romney and last time I checked abortions were still legal from 2001-2009. This election is about the economy and on a lesser note about the middle east in chaos.

Illuminati - yours is the most accurate and true comment on the subject in all of blogdom.

Jordan - Obama has failed us in the foreign policy department. Peace through strength (along with Reagan's incredible Star Wars bluff) ended the Cold War which lead to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. That is one example of leadership. Nixon opening up a good relationship with China who was isolationist - another.

President Obama's projection of weakness to our enemies, his inaction, his feeble attempts at making friends with dictators (as though the strength of his own personality which won him the highest office will win over these bad guys), and now this - running around bragging "Bin Laden is dead, GM is alive, and Al Qaeda is on the run." Do you not realize Jordan that his Administrations actions are responsible for the murder of Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, both former Navy SEALs working under the State Department, killed alongside U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and information management officer Sean Smith? (not Chris Stevens and 3 others as Obama and the media like to say)

And that he and his entire staff lied about this for weeks? Great foreign policy, you say.

How can you justify your hypocrisy? We know Bush had significant intelligence information telling him attacks where coming. Why was his doing nothing ok with you but now Obama's failure to prevent 4 Americans from being murdered in Libya uinnacceptable.

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW: “MITT ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT”

Mitt Romney For President
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Editorial
October 21, 2012
http://triblive.com

It sounds cliched, but it is a truism: America is at a crossroads. It can continue down the path of Leviathan government and an increasing dependence on it, or America can return to the path of limited government and the kind of prosperity-producing independence on which the Founders based this great republic.

The choice is yours. Our choice is the latter. And that’s why we enthusiastically endorse Republican Mitt Romney for president of the United States.

He’s an exceptionally good and decent man who is a proven leader, administrator and deft politician.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has excelled in service private and public, showing great mastery in keeping the steed steady and in some quite unfriendly and even treacherous waters.

And he showed great political adroitness in working with a Democrat legislature as governor of Massachusetts for the betterment of all Bay State residents.

Mitt Romney offers a seasoned, strategic and mature public policy mind so sorely needed in the White House and so necessary to enable our great nation and its people to excel.

It’s time to begin restoring America. It’s time to elect Mitt Romney as president of the United States. **excerpted**

Jack, off-shoring jobs to countries that live under tyranny is not what "jobs" and "profits" should be about. Take a course in business ethics, or watch a version of the Christmas Carol. "All that glitters is not gold". ill-gotten gains. There's a good old-fashioned expression we don't hear much anymore.

if you are a democrat, the purpose of business is to give free stuff to non-workers, or else get them hired by the gov't and pay them 3 times what they're worth

crestor, funny how the tree huggers always have an excuse when someone endorses the real american. They have to be forgiven, however, it's almost the end of the month, and their welfare is gone

Sharpie, it would appear you are answering my question for Sly Fox. You've not answered. What is the purpose of any business? Is the role of business to stay in business, remain competitive and profitable, and provide a promised return on investment to equity owners who risked capital to start the business?

Or is it to give jobs to people?

If you can't directly answer that one, here's an easier one: If you were President Obama, would you have paid Sensata Technologies taxpayer dollars for them to keep their jobs in Illinois, so that Sensata could stay in business and return an expected ROI to its shareholders?

Why would a business only have one purpose? Creating good jobs and being profitable are not mutually exclusive.

Profit has always been, is now , and will always be the number one object and purpose of business any one that believes otherwise lives in a dream world that will never be reality.

The purpose of life is happiness, Jack. If you and your business are creating misery for workers out of jobs here, and creating jobs for workers working under deplorable conditions in countries that live under tyranny, then I would say that you have missed the purpose of life. "All that glitters is not gold". Being and creating happiness for yourself and others is beyond ROI for shareholders, and should be a significant factor in how you operate your business. You can't create misery for everyone, and then magically hope that you will avoid misery yourself forever. Whether you chose to find that out here in this life, on this planet, or find this truth out in another life, is also your choice.

Ah, Sharpie, no answers from you, just obfuscation. Unfortunately there is the real world, then a myriad of utopias and arcadias. If you draw a paycheck from a real-world business, perhaps you should consider following your own advice and take a few business courses; better yet, start a small business, jump into the pit, and see how long you last with that mindset. "Wish in one hand, crap in the other: see which fills up faster."

"Since 1961, for 52 years now, the Republicans have held the White House 28 years, the Democrats 24," Clinton said. "In those 52 years, our private economy produced 66 million private-sector jobs. So what's the jobs score? Republicans 24 million, Democrats 42 million."

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman," Clinton said.

Robert, Technically, this is true. Just as technically, Barack Obama should run screaming with his hair on fire from this statistic. There’s a reason for that: Clinton is measuring presidential tenure purely from inauguration to inauguration. For example, he’s taking jobs numbers from January 1981 to January 1985 to measure Reagan’s first term. Only one problem with this: by this standard, Barack Obama is the second-worst private jobs creator of the last half-century (George W. Bush is first, but still created far more net jobs than Obama overall, putting Obama dead last if you include state and federal jobs in the statistic). Which is why our unemployment rate is terrible.

I will give him this: Bill Clinton is the most skilled liar of my lifetime. Incomparable.

Are you going to remind us that FDR had an extra marital affair too????? Romney got his but kicked last night and changing the subject won't change the facts.

The republicans say that Mitt Romneys goal was to look presidential, and all he succeeded in doing was to come in a bad second.

Whether someone is pro abortion or not......Roe vs Wade will never be overturned, but the decision may be someday left to individual states. Many people are not pro abortion, but still think that government should not be involved in a women's reproductive rights.

Today, what is more important is that fact that we have:
1 in 6 Americans in poverty
50% of kids in largest cities don't graduate

5.5 Trillion in new debt in 4 years

23 Million people struggling without jobs
Under Obama
93% of people who have lost jobs are women

Cost of food out of sight; some items have doubled or the weight is less/boxes smaller
If Obamacare is so wonderful for us, why were there 1,200 waivers mostly to unions!

Americans need better than what Barack Obama has done. He had two full years of a Democrat congress and could've passed anything, anything that would have helped and he did not. He failed!!!! Worse; he lied!!!! And he's still lying!
Mitt Romney has experience, has been successful and he cares about everyone. Listen closely to what he says; not to the negative ads or to the Democrats lies. Listen to Mitt Romney or go to MittRomney.com
Give America a chance to thrive....think about your kids and grandkids. Vote for Romney. America's had enough of Obama Bin Biden!!!!!
