SouthSide Woman Charged With 'Open Lewdness'

A SouthSide woman is accused of performing oral sex on a man standing on a city sidewalk, then flashing her genitals at another woman who complained to her about it, according to court papers.

Alma Rose Durand, 50, of 306 Hill St., was charged with open lewdness and public drunkenness for her alleged activities on March 19. She was released on $1,000 unsecured bail, following her arraignment before on-duty District Judge Diane Marakovits in Northampton early Saturday.

The arrest affidavit said an eyewitness told police that her 13-year-old son had seen the act of fellatio on the 1100 block of E. Third St at about 9 p.m. on March 19. The eyewitness also told police that when she confronted Durand about it, Durand lifted her skirt and exposed her vagina, the court papers said.

The affidavit said that when Bethlehem police arrived at the scene, Durand appeared to be “visibly intoxicated and slurred her speech.”
