SouthSide Man Charged with Felony Trespass

Police called to scene when eyewitness sees suspect trying locked garage doors.

A Bethlehem man is accused of felony criminal trespass after an eyewitness spotted him entering an unlocked SouthSide garage early this morning, according to court papers.

Louis Alexie Ramos, 24, of 630 Wyandotte St., was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail following his arraignment before District Judge Nancy Matos Gonzalez.

Police were called to the 700 block of Canning Street at a little after 7 a.m. on a report that someone was looking into car windows and trying to open garage doors in the neighborhood.

According to the arrest affidavit, the following occurred after police arrived:

Police saw Ramos was allegedly trying to open a garage at 728 Broadway, holding what was described as a “beer bong tap” as if it were a pry tool, according to court papers. When Ramos saw the officer, he dropped the beer tap and a cell phone.

An eyewitness told police that he had previously tried to open doors on a row of attached garages on Itaska Street, but only succeeded in opening one door at 711 Itaska. Ramos then disappeared inside the garage for several minutes, the eyewitness said.

Ramos had three cell phones and a flat head screwdriver on him when he was arrested, court papers said.
