A celebration of all things Peeps, this festival is the place to be this week for the younger set.
Running from noon to 5 p.m. today, tomorrow, Friday, and ending with a Peeps drop and fireworks on Saturday, Dec. 31, a wide array of activities are planned for the event, this year at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way.
Most Peeps Fest activities are free, and others are moderately priced ($5, in many instances), making this not only the place to be for kids, but also an affordable family outing which parents will undoubtedly welcome, especially right after the expenses of the Christmas holidays.
For all four days, there's plenty to keep everyone occupied.
Children's entertainment throughout each day includes a scavenger hunt, video game competition, photo opportunities with Just Born mascots, Kids Zumba, Lehigh Valley Zoo animal presentation, Balloons the Clown, 2+1 math rocks, Magician Tom Yurasits, Robbi K., Moe's Drum Circle, Yosi, Magician Joe Keppel, and Dave Fry.
Daily opportunities for the whole family to participate in hands-on visual art experiences are planned, with well-known local artists leading a variety of art projects.
Other highlights include the Air Products LIN cream demonstration, set for Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2:30 p.m., where company employees show the wonder of science by making ice cream instantly with liquid nitrogen.
The Peeps 5K Race and Kids Fun Run is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, with the Peeps Mascot Dash at noon.
The whole thing ends with fireworks, after the Peep drop, set for Saturday, Dec. 31 at 5:15 p.m.
