For its 150th anniversary, the Lehigh-Lafayette game is going to New York City.

The schools' presidents announced Saturday that The Rivalry -- as it's known -- will be played at Yankee Stadium in 2014.

It's the first time in more than a century that Lafayette College and Lehigh University will be facing off at a neutral site.

"This important milestone for the most-played football rivalry in the country will be celebrated at our nation’s most iconic sports facility,” Lafayette President Daniel Weiss said in a statement on the school website. “Our fans deserve nothing less, and our student-athletes will remember this day for the rest of their lives.”

Weiss and Lehigh President Alice Gast made the announcement Saturday morning before the 148th game. 

The two schools began playing each other in 1884 -- believed to be the most-played rivalry in the country. In 1891, the teams faced each other at West Side Park in Wilkes-Barre, the last year the game wasn't held at either Lafayette or Lehigh. 

Bruce McCutcheon, Lafayette's athletic director, said he and his counterpart at Lehigh "have worked together with our administration and representatives of Yankee Stadium for several years to help make this happen."

This year's game -- played at Lafayette's Fisher Stadium -- ended with a Lehigh win, 38-21. It was the fifth year in a row the Mountain Hawks were victorious over the Leopards.
