Last Chance: Shine a Blue Light on Autism

Today is World Autism Awareness Day. Find out how you can help raise awareness about this growing public health concern.

 

 

World Autism Awareness Day is today. To celebrate, light up your home or office in blue to help shine a light on autism.

Join iconic landmarks around the world as they Light It Up Blue to help raise awareness about the developmental disorder that affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.

In its third year, Light It Up Blue local participants include:

The Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces at SteelStacks will also be lit blue and the ArtsQuest Center will host the Blue Tie Blue Jean Ball to Benefit Autism Speaks. Wear your blue jeans and a blue tie to this event, which includes hors d'oevres from the Bonefish Grill and music by Lynnie Godfrey, Craig Thatcher and Nyke Van Wyk.

Why not add your front porch to the list? The Home Depot  sells 25 watt blue light bulbs for $1.99 each. The Home Depot will donate one dollar for each purchase to Autism Speaks, a nationally-based, science and advocacy organization.
