Northampton Community College will host an information session from 5-7 tonight for veterans and others interested in learning more about accelerated training programs to prepare adults for employment in four fields that are considered high-demand occupations in Pennsylvania: machinery repair, geothermal heat pumps, electrical construction and air conditioning and refrigeration.
Participants can earn a diploma in one year or less.
The short-term training is being offered with support from the U.S. Department of Labor. It includes instruction by faculty with industry experience and a “Foundations in Trades” course to familiarize participants with the skills needed in today’s fast-paced manufacturing and renewable energy fields. Each student will have the opportunity to work with a career coach.
Many individuals are expected to qualify for tuition assistance from public funds administered through Pennsylvania Career Link.
The next classes will begin on Jan. 13. Early registration is encouraged. To sign up for the free information session, call 610-332-6262. It will be held in Room 130 of Alumni Hall on Northampton’s Main Campus at 3835 Green Pond Road in Bethlehem Township.
