Guest Stole TV from Hotel Room, Police Say
Moore Township man allegedly ripped TV from anchored stand at Comfort Suites; also accused of stealing gun and trying to sell it to support drug habit.
A Moore Township man is accused of stealing a flat-screen television from a room at the Comfort Suites hotel in South Bethlehem, according to court papers.
Dillon Buskirk, 23, of 3053 Mountain View Drive, is charged in the theft, which would have required him to rip the television out of a metal support stand that was bolted to a dresser in his hotel room, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
The investigating police officer noted that there were black plastic shavings and broken pieces of plastic from the TV stand.
Hotel housekeeping reported to management that the television was missing within minutes of Buskirk’s departure from the room, which was about 11 a.m. Feb. 26, the affidavit said.
Buskirk was arraigned Tuesday on charges of theft and receiving stolen property before District Judge Nancy Matos-Gonzalez and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
This is no less than the third set of criminal charges that Buskirk has been arraigned for in the past week.
Last Wednesday, Buskirk was arrested by Allentown police for allegedly carrying a stolen .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun to a meeting place at Seventh and Turner streets.
A confidential informant had told police that Buskirk planned to sell the stolen gun, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Allentown police.
The affidavit said Buskirk admitted that he had stolen the weapon from a house in Bethlehem on March 4 and that he had planned to sell the weapon or trade it for heroin. Buskirk admitted to having a heroin problem, police said.
He was charged with receiving stolen property and carrying firearms without a license.
Later that same day, he was charged with theft by deception by Slatington police. According to yet another criminal complaint, he had allegedly passed a bad $180 check to a motel on Dec. 8.
