Exotic Bird Lost in Bethlehem Township

Residents of Bethlehem Township are asked to keep an eye out for a blue and gold macaw lost near Wright Veterinary Center

A large blue and gold macaw was lost Wednesday near Wright Veterinary Center behind the Keystone Pub on Easton Avenue in Bethlehem Township.

The owner has had the bird since it was a baby and is devastated, according to a post on Lehigh Valley Craigslist.

Anyone who sees the bird is asked to call Wright Veterinary at 610-865-2611.

Please don't attempt to capture her as she may take off again.

I live in Bethlehem Twp not too far from Wright vet. I have a bird feeding station in my yard, so I will keep an eye out for the Macaw. It would have helped if we knew the name of the bird. Hope the owner finds their bird soon! I can only imagine how devastated he/she is to have lost it:(

I really wouldn't provide the birds name - If captured by someone and they called it by name the bird would feel comfortable. No, the names of any lost pet should *never* be revealed.

I (respectfully) disagree with your anology. Only because through my own personal experience, it has been proven beneficial to know the pets name in order to capture or detain the animal until the owner gets there. But I definitely hear what you are saying and can see your point. IMO, if someone wanted to be dishonest about capturing and keeping a lost pet, most of the time a simple gesture to tempt the animal with food works without even knowing the animals name.

@Sunday - good points. It can go either way I suppose. I just hope they can find this poor creature who must be scared beyond belief.

Awwwww, I agree! I know, I keep looking up in all of my trees whenever I go outside or look out the window. Thank goodness it isn't cold out!
