Comedian Chris Tucker, Pop Group America Coming to Sands
Sands Bethlehem Event Center announces shows starring actor/comedian Chris Tucker; '70s pop stars America, and a Doo Wop Extravaganza with R&B groups of the 1950s.
Comedian Chris Tucker and 1970s pop group America have been scheduled to perform at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, Vision Entertainment Group announced this week.
Event center promoters have also announced a Doo Wop Extravaganza on May 4 starring some of the great rhythm & blues stars of the 1950s -- Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners, Shirley Alston Reeves (the original lead singer of the Shirelles), Frankie Lymon's Legendary Teenagers, Willie Winfield & The Harptones, The Tymes, Johnny Farina of Santo & Johnny, and the Knockouts.
Tickets for all three shows go on sale at 10 a.m. today and can be purchased at sandseventcenter.com, the Event Center box office, Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets or by phone at 800-745-3000.
Comedian and actor Chris Tucker is best known for his role in Rush Hour, where he portrays Det. James Carter. Tucker, who performs on May 11, has been entertaining audiences across the nation since he got his big break in the 1995 hit film, Friday, co-starring Ice Cube.
He has enjoyed a long career in stand-up and film since then, with film credits including House Party 3, Money Talks, and The Fifth Element. His stand-up earned him a frequent performing role on the '90s Def Comedy Jam. Most recently, Tucker starred in the Academy Award nominated film Silver Linings Playbook.
Grammy winning classic rock band America, which comes to Bethlehem on June 29, has accrued massive success since breaking onto the music scene more than 40 years ago. Dominating the Top 40 charts and radio in the 1970s, the band had a string of hits including, “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” “Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair.”
