... on Saturday.

"Battle of the Burgers," hosted by Green Acres Outdoor Living in Lower Nazareth Township, will pit nine local restaurateurs and burger connoisseurs against one another for the title of “Best Burger in the Lehigh Valley."

But there's a little more depth to "Battle of the Burgers" than secret ingredients. Green Acres will donate all proceeds from the event to the Allentown Rescue Mission.

For more than 100 years, according to a press release, the Allentown Rescue Mission has been a place where men have begun to experience restoration with God, their families and their communities.

According to www.allentownrescuemission.org, the Mission's programs aim to end homelessness one person at a time; and in some cases, preventing it.

"Battle of the Burgers" will be held this Saturday, Aug. 18. Tasting and voting will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. The winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m.

Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and free for kids under the age of five. Paid admission to the event includes nine grilled sliders, one from each of the competing restaurants.

Participating Restaurants:

After taste-testing, attendees will be asked to vote for their favorite. The burger with the most votes will be crowned the “Best Burger of the Lehigh Valley."

"Battle of the Burgers" will also feature a DJ, a free photo booth and an ICEE truck.

Green Acres Outdoor Living can be found at 3850 Newburg Road, just off Route 33.
